Reading every ones blogs made me want to write a short little story about a time I was my best. I think reading ways others were their best can help you become motivated to make someone be more active in becoming a better person.
As most of you know I am very involved in the SAE baja vehicle project. Here we design build and test an off road race car every year. I started in this organization my freshman year and went to meetings and tried to help where I could but it was hard since I was new. But I realized this was something I was really interested in and worked hard to become an active member.
My sophomore year was a complete start over year for the team. We finished a car that was started the year before and had no idea what we were doing. It wasn't until race day I learned how awesome this experience could be. We finished about 80th out of 120 schools, which was honorable being out first year.
Because of my experience, which was small but more then anyone else, I became the project manager for the next years car. This was a huge undertaking. I put in close to 40 hours a week and ended up dropping a class just so I could do Baja. (Please note I still worked hard in class and still made deans list; it took a lot of time management skills)
The team worked great together and I learned a lot about myself and how to work with other people. At our races we ended up finishing16th out of 100 other schools. This was the best finish ISU baja has had in probably 20 years. I am proud to say that I had a hand in making the baja team what it is today and hopefully we can continue our tradition of doing well.
Remember, college is more about academics. It also encompasses life experiences that will shape who you are. I think it will be important for everyone to learn more about yourself and embrace who you are. That is what baja did for me.
